WORLD REFUGEE DAY 2017

On the World Refugee Day, EL recalls that grassroots sport can be a significant tool for social integration and empowerment.

With society being one of the core values of EL, and with the refugee crisis being on the increase, EL strongly recalls that sport can have a role in the social integration and trauma-relief of refugees in Europe. EL recently awarded and provided support to a grassroots sport club that uses sport and physical activity to integrate young refugees in the society, and at the same time has a supporter status to the ASPIRE project, a project that seeks to make sport clubs and their sport facilitators more open, accessible and inclusive, especially with regards to the integration of refugees.
