European Lotteries in the Digital Age: Adapting to New Gaming Models, Ensuring Player Protection and Fighting Illegals

Hosted by: The European Lotteries (EL)

What does the future hold for Members of the European Lotteries (EL) in the digital age?

The advent of the digital age holds thrilling possibilities for the gambling sector and could usher it to a new era with the technology providing the next big jump in the way games are played. However, they also bring along potential dark pitfalls and questions about the long-term nature of the lottery model (in terms of redistribution, responsible gambling modalities, sector-specific regulation, etc.). On this journey, the protection of consumers – especially vulnerable individuals and minors – as well as public order against money laundering and fraud remain top priorities for Lottery operators in Europe.

This event will allow us to consider new perspectives for the sector of the recent surge in the development and application of artificial intelligence, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies. We will also discuss the partnership opportunities with the e-sports industry.

Join us during as we discuss:

  • Applications of new technologies in the gambling sector;
  • Efforts of the EU Institutions to make the most out of technological developments while keeping the digital space safe;
  • How new technologies can be used as an additional tool to enhance customer experience while minimising the risks for consumers and public order;
  • New forms of online entertainment, and;
  • Latest developments in e-sports and perspectives for online gaming and gambling.
