EL Communications Workshop: Managing crisis communications during a pandemic

During a crisis, communication is essential.

Communication helps build trust and hope in businesses and their efforts to adapt to the challenges they face. Yet, as the pandemic presented Europe and the rest of the world with the biggest health, economic and social crisis in modern history, designing communication plans to connect with stakeholders has been a challenge.

National lotteries had to put numerous contingency measures in place to not only to protect players but also their employees and retailers. Whilst at the same time continuing to support society at a more crucial time than ever and communicate with transparency and empathy.

The EL Workshop will take place online on 9-10 November (on two mornings 9:00-12:30 CET) will focus on crisis communications during a pandemic. A dedicated training session will provide participants with tips, tricks, and practical advice on how to manage such a situation in the future, looking particularly from a media perspective. By exchanging best practices and lessons learnt, the Workshop aims to support EL Members with their future communication plans and campaigns.

As a pandemic especially as one as long at COVID-19 limits people’s ability to cope with excessive amounts of information, it is necessary to consider the best course of action, with crisis plans that are appropriate, informative and effective. Communicating a positive message with reassurance, hope and trust reminds society that businesses and individuals have managed to overcome challenges in the past and can look positively to the future.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The Workshop is open to EL Lottery Members and Associate Members and is aimed particularly at corporate communication professionals in the EL Membership. All presentations and exercises/case studies will be in English.

WHEN?

The event will be held over two mornings (9 & 10 November, 9.00 – 12:30 CET)

HOW?

The Workshop will take place on a dedicated platform (Zoom). All applicants must have specific hardware/software/ telecommunications facilities that will be verified following application, and after acceptance for participation.

IMPORTANT LIMIT

Due to the nature of the Workshop and interactive sessions, including breakout rooms and a media training, the total number of participants for the Workshop is limited. EL reserves the right to limit the total number of participants from any one lottery, or Supplier/Partner.
