Creating positive societal impact - EL's Environmental Initaitive
Launched in 2022, the EL Environmental Initiative reflects European Lotteries’ continued commitment to strengthening sustainability across the lottery sector. Building on initial collective commitments – including the use of paper from certified sustainable forests for gaming materials and the regular monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions – EL reinforced this effort in 2024 with a renewed focus on reducing carbon emissions through measurable targets and practical action.
Supported by a dedicated EL programme developed with Digital RG, members are encouraged and equipped to lower their environmental footprint and raise common standards.
This page brings together resources and case studies from EL members, showcasing concrete best practices, achievements and expert examples that demonstrate how environmental change is both achievable and essential, while further enhancing national lotteries’ positive social impact on society.
